I set my sights on People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry a year or so ago and I finally got around to reading it about a week ago! I finished it in two days and gave it 5 stars!

The book follows Poppy, a travel journalist, and her best friend Alex as they travel different parts of the world starting in their junior year of college. However, two years ago, the pair took a trip to Croatia that permanently altered their friendship. Trying to go back to the way it was a win back her best friend, Poppy attempts to recreate “The Summer Trip” one last time. Only this time, there was a much deeper meaning behind the events in Croatia that the two friends will slowly discover.

I’ll admit that I don’t read cute romances a lot. I find that the story lines are all the same in one way or another. I typically read books like People We Meet On Vacation as a pallet cleanser, neither loving it or hating it. People We Meet On Vacation started out as a pallet cleanser; something I picked up for when I would need it. I can confidently say that, although it was a great as a break from my usual heavy reads, I LOVED IT!!!

The way Henry writes makes me feel connected to her characters and want to experience the lives that she has created for them. I plan to become a journalist upon graduation and I absolutely adore traveling, so I felt like I connected a lot to Poppy in that way; the feeling of wanting to escape your hometown and see the world, meet new people, etc. is something I relate to. I loved that she was so carefree and that Alex was there to balance her out, always careful and straight-laced. The way Henry portrayed their dynamic made the book feel so real which is something I look for a lot of the time when I am reading.

The dynamic of the characters, the writing style, and the (eventually) happy ending are three things that I loved about People We Meet On Vacation and made me want to read more of Emily Henry’s works!

Thank you all so much for reading! Much love!

P.S. This book made me want to start this blog!
